Can we help? Osteopathy is suitable for all ages and across a wide range of problems; Our varied techniques allow us to treat the elderly to the new born and from pregnant women to sports enthusiasts. Using many conventional medical procedures and clinical tests to assess and diagnose, we will be able to recognise at consultation whether your problem is suitable for osteopathic treatment.
Spinal and low back pain – Osteopathy with its varied techniques and holistic approach to patients as individuals is also recommended by National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) for low back pain.
Sports injuries – Whether due to a musculoskeletal imbalance, overuse injury or a problem with technique for your particular sport, osteopathy is especially effective in dealing with sports injuries as we aim to approach your problem holistically.
Osteopathic Treatment – Osteopaths may use manipulation (the ‘click’), stretching, rhythmic movements and massage to improve function of joints, muscles and ligaments which can ultimately influence the whole health of a person. The aim is to enhance the blood and nerve supply to tissues, helping your body’s own healing mechanisms.
Cranial Osteopathy – Cranial osteopathy involves using the hands to ‘listen’ to subtle rhythms in all body tissue. Alterations in these rhythms may lead to imbalances or strains causing discomfort. Although the name implies the head, the techniques are used to treat the whole body. Cranial osteopathy is particularly suitable for babies and young children.
When visiting an osteopath, advice may be given on posture, ergonomics, lifting, exercise and nutrition to help prevent future episodes recurring.
Informed consent – Osteopaths work to ensure that you are involved in every aspect of your treatment, consulting with you so that you know what to expect and to give you the opportunity to decide whether you are happy with your care.
