All Zumbared out? Bored with the usual aqua aerobics? Ready for a new challenge? There’s actually far more of a diverse fitness scene out there than you may realise, here’s a rundown of seven local exercise classes, clubs and trainers that you may not even have heard of.
1. Your Style Fitness
‘Your Style’ Fitness aims to help women who struggle to exercise, or who struggle to stick to exercise. Their studio is based at Bentham House 2-4 Station Way, Royal Arsenal, SE18 6FJ; they have a packed timetable, but offer flexible access (just some of their classes include: Pilates, Yoga and Zumba).

2. Royal Resistance
Previously known as Regiment fitness, Royal Resistance are based at the Royal Arsenal in Woolwich – and have instructors that have been trained by the Military – for you, this means exceptionally motivational trainers who’ll help you in achieving the results you want.
Their training takes place outside and is designed for both the experienced, as well as newbies. Classes run on a Tuesday and Thursday 7:15-8:15pm and Saturday morning at 09:30am

3. Bee Fun Fitness
Fun, excitement and adrenaline packed classes are the order of the day at Bee Fun Fitness. Based in North Kent, SE London, their classes run in Bexleyheath and include truly original workouts, including: Power hoop classes, Pound classes and Globe Fit Hoopla Family Workshops. Bee Fun Fitness offer a free two week trial.

4. The Charlton Lido and Lifestyle Club
The Charlton Lido and Lifestyle Club can be found at Hornfair Park, Shooters Hill Road, London, and now boast super shiny, brand new refurbished premises. As well as their new state-of–the-art gym, they’ve also re-worked their group exercise programme, and have extended their facilities to include an open air Group Cycle studio, and new floodlights for the tennis courts.

5. GI Jane Bootcamp
GI Jane Bootcamp is for ladies only, and they help women of all capabilities, ages and sizes achieve their weight loss goals. They don’t believe in diets, nor are their classes intended to be a quick fix. They help women to re-train their mind, and commit to fitness in a way that lasts. A real selling point of GI Jane is that they have the highest trainer to client ratio in the UK, with 16 ladies a week attending, to a single trainer (this compares to the average of 30 to 1).

6. The Guardian Fitness Bootcamp
The Guardian Fitness Bootcamp is designed for everyone, of every ability – from absolute beginners to pro athletes. They aim to help you quickly burn fat, build strength and increase your cardiovascular fitness.
Open air classes take place at Plumstead Common on Sundays at 9:30am (no booking required) and on Wednesdays at 7pm (text to secure your place: 07584 414206). They also take place at Pickhurst Green on Mondays at 7pm; these classes are for beginners (text to secure your place: 07584 414206).

7. Stepz School of Dance
Stepz School of Dance was established to make dance accessible to everyone – and they aim to make their classes that little bit different. They offer a social environment, where participants can meet people, make new friends and above all else – simply have fun.
Their ‘Move to the Beat!’ classes are just £3.50, and take place every Wednesday between 7:30 and 8:30pm.
